REVIEW: Wednesday by Kendall Ryan

“Every Wednesday since that night, it was like clockwork. Shaw always found his way to my door and I always said yes…”  Chloe

“I had used her to chase away the darkness – to forget the pain and regrets and guilt that swam, unchecked, inside me. And worse than that? I had no plans to stop.”  Shaw

All I can say is WOW! From the start I was pulled in and couldn’t put it down. Instead of going to bed at a decent hour and being well rested and prepared to give the end of year final, I read the whole book. Granted it was only 212 pages but still.
The whole idea of only being together for a brief moment on Wednesdays intrigued me and my gut told me there was more to the story. The relationship between Shaw and Chloe was hard core and I loved it. The sex scenes were smoking and I love a strong alpha with attitude.

Just a few things bothered me though:

1.       I know Chloe was trying to help her friend but after time she was becoming lost and struggled to find her voice. If they were such good friends then she should have been able to tell him what was bothering her. Having said that, I get it. I get why she was the way she is. Her relationship with Shaw was strained when he married Samantha and they drifted apart. But at some point, and not 8 months later she should have figured things out. And after the incident at the bar she claims she was livid and wanted to spend the next 8 hours in bed crying. But the next time we see Chloe, Shaw is at her door and there was no anger. NO ANGER! Now, if that had been me, I would have still been angry and not just angry ANGRY! And any girl I know would have been as well.

2.       Shaw was inconsistent. Maybe it was just me. From the beginning I guess I expected there to be more internal struggles before things began to fall apart. For example, within the first few pages it was a Sunday and he already had her in his lap. Then when she went out with her friends one Saturday night he went looking for her and their encounter had him marking her as if she was his. It was hot but confusing. Then, when Chloe misses their Wednesday meet up he just shrugs it off and goes out with her brother. Again, CONFUSED!

3.       The book left me wanting more! Even with the things that bothered me I loved the story. I just wish there was more.

I was first introduced to Kendall Ryan with her series Filthy Beautiful Lies and I have been a fan of her writing ever since. Her characters are strong, well written and developed. She is successful at drawing me in and making me feel for her characters.
