REVIEW: Hostage by Jamie Begley

Where do I begin? I absolutely love reading about the Predators and Last Riders and I am SO happy that the Last Riders were included in this story. I have fallen deeply in love with all the men and their women.

You can always count on Penni to run into trouble, especially when she is causing it. She is a very strong willed woman who doesn't take crap from anyone. I love that she was not afraid of Jackal or any of Hennessy's men even though I would have been. She remained strong and oh so mouthy. We get to know who she really is and we learn more about her relationship with her brother Shade. They are so much alike and I love getting to see how connected they are as siblings. Shade would do anything to protect and save the people he cares about.

Penni's relationship with Jackal began several years before when he kidnapped her. There were so many reasons for her to not like him but as frustrated as she made him he never gave up. Even the bees incident probably would have made any normal person walk away. Visualizing Jackal when he walked into the clubhouse after the attack made me laugh to the point I nearly wet myself.

Penni made me want to grab her and shake some sense into her. It was obvious that Jackal cared for her but she was too focused on Train to see what was in front of her. It wasn't till Jackal kissed her and she was able to feel the passion that things started to change. And for Jackal to put himself up as a pawn to gain Train's attention made my heart break for him. I knew it could only go one of two ways. Either Penni would see finally Jackal or she would fail trying to make Train see her as more than a little sister.

When Jackal betrays Penni for the sake of the club I nearly threw my kindle across the room. I seriously had to stop and take a long breath and prepare myself for what was about to happen. The last time I felt like that was when the club turned on Beth in Razer's Ride.

Hostage takes you a ride and to tell the truth I was more scared for the characters in this story than I have been in all the other books. They were dealing with Raul and the cartel again only this time on a grander scale and this time more people were involved including the wives and all the kids.

And since I mentioned kids, my heart broke for Winter. I could tell by the few interactions between her and Viper that something was wrong. I hate that her and Viper are dealing with a sense of loss. When the men orchestrated the betrayal I hated that Winter doubted Viper's commitment to her. It made me want to go back and reread their story again just to remind myself of how much he loves her. If only I could show her myself.

Jamie has me totally on the edge of wanting to know and see more of Genny. We were introduced to her in Lucky's Choice and we get a bigger glimpse of her in Hostage but I want more. Will she get her own happy ending? And with who? There is a story there, I know there is.

Looking forward to more from Jamie Begley. She is an amazing author who allows me to get lost in a world of alpha bikers.
