Reconnecting with reading

The last, I don't know, decade or so I have convinced myself that I didn't really have time to read. Instead I filled my time with TV. In 2010, my now husband bought me a kindle for Christmas and I'm sad to say that it did not get used like it should have. I would pick it up maybe once every couple so months to read or play a game then it would get lost or collect dust on a shelf. I know, extremely pitiful! However, last year, 2014 I reconnected with my love of reading. I finally reached a point when I knew I had to turn the TV off. So I did. I challenged myself to read instead watching mindless amounts of shows. I'm happy to report that by New Year's Eve I had read 297 books! As of now the TV pretty much stays off unless my husband decides to take over my chair. I'd forgotten how lost I become in books and how much it relaxes me. My job is stressful and reading helps clear my mind and bring me back to myself after long hours of constant noise and mind splitting headaches! I've even started cooking more. Shutting the TV off has gotten me outta my chair and improved my overall attitude.
