50 Shades...The movie

For those that know me know I hate crowds and I would have waited till the movie came out on DVD  to watch but my friend twisted my arm so I broke down and went to see 50 Shades of Grey.

What a great example of how the book is millions times better than the movie! To say that I am disappointed does not even do justice to how I feel about the movie. First of all, I didn't feel that the connection Christian and Anastasia had was evident on screen. So much of the build up was left out that I felt their relationship was rushed.

In the book, Anastasia's personality shines through digital communication because she's intimidated by Christian in person but the movie I feel, didn't portray her strength or sassiness until the end when she finally stands up for herself.

And what about the change they go through from Christian wanting her strictly as a submissive and her wanting more? The battle over wanting more was missing.

I could go on but I get frustrated just thinking about how the movie could have been so much more.

The best part was the end. Hearing the gasps and the "what the f...s!" My bestie just laughed and said "I guess they didn't read the book!" That made the whole experience better.

Now, I get that to make the movie they had to edit and cut parts out but it just seems to me that too much was cut and the end result was a mess that just didn't fit together all that well. All I wanted to do was get home and retread the book to get the movie out of my head.

Would my opinion be different if I hadn't read the book? I honestly can't say.

Will I see the next one? Probably. Just because I am curious and the second book was my favorite.

Is it one I'd would purchase for my movie collection? No. I think my time would be better spent retreading the book.
