I have been reading daily. That's my promise to myself, even if it's only a chapter, I read daily.
However, this last week I was asked to take on a baking project that was to keep me busy every evening. Yes, I was happy to do so but that meant little time for reading. Now, you have to understand that my Kindle and I are in a relationship. It's always with me wherever I go. I read while in the checkout line at the grocery store. I read while in line at the bank on those rare occasions when I actually have to go to the bank. I read while waiting at the doctor's office. I basically read any and every chance I get. My husband thinks I'm crazy! When I'm home and not cooking or cleaning he knows where to find me and knows what I am doing.
Monday evening after completing the first baking project I managed to read for a bit, then plugged in my Kindle and went to bed.
Tuesday morning I turned my Kindle on to make sure my pre-ordered books had downloaded before putting it in my purse and heading out for the day. I didn't get a chance to read during the day, no time spent waiting. After completing my 2nd baking project that evening I had about an hour I could spend with my Kindle, so I grabbed it and went to my chair. The only problem was it would not turn on! My heart about died the moment I realized something was wrong. I knew the battery hadn't been low being that I hadn't used it since recharging it the previous evening. I didn't know what to do. I tired plugging it in but nothing happened. I thought maybe changing the outlet would help but no. Maybe it was the extension cord, nope. I tried rebooting but nothing happened. I texted my husband and he just laughed! His exact words were "yay, library time is over". What an ass!
Buying a new device wasn't in the budget this month but what else was I to do? I went to bed unhappy and disappointed.
Wednesday morning I could see that the husband had tried to get my Kindle back up but to no avail. I guess he's not always an ass. I decided shop for a new Kindle and After making my purchase I felt better. With 2 day shipping I'd have my Kindle just in time for the long weekend! Until then I was going to keep myself busy with work and baking. Once home, I noticed the husband had again tried to fix my Kindle but still nothing. My mom and I had plans to go out for dinner, that kept me occupied for about an hour and a half. Then baking took up the rest of my time. Before bed I thought, try to reboot just one more time, not like it could hurt.
Whoa! This time the reboot worked! What the ...? All of a sudden I saw the little green light come on and I nearly dropped it! That'd be just my luck, but I managed to hold on to it. Next thing I know, it's working again and all my books are in the process of loading!
Now, I am excited but I now have a new problem. I've already purchased a new Kindle. My husband knows that's the first thing I would do and when I told him, his exact words were, "figured you would". But what do I do now? You might say, "just return the new one", right? Hahaha, nope. The husband tells me to keep it just in case my current Kindle gives me more problems then I have a backup! Man did I luck out in the husband department!
So now, I have 2 Kindles, many books to read, a wonderful husband and a long weekend!
